Here is an 18 size, approximately 15 jewel, Rockford nickel key wind only, pocket watch. It is cased in a very nice 5 oz. Coin silver Fahys number one case. The dial is original porcelain, marked E. Hopkins & Son, Chillicothe, Ohio. It is in very nice condition with no chips. It is covered with a beveled glass crystal. The movement is very clean, marked Rockford Watch Co. Rockford, Illinois with serial number 95,721, dating the watch to 1880. The watch runs strong and keeps good time. International buyers will be calculated after the sale. The 3 piece case to this beautiful watch is solid. IT IS BEAUTFULLY ENAMELED IN AN IRRIDESCENT BLUE WITH SEED PEARLS SET TO THE CASE BACK AND BEZEL AND WITH GOLD AND SILVER HIGHLIGHTS. IT IS ALSO ACCOMPANIED BY A SOLID SILVER RIBBON STYLE BROOCH WHICH IS ORIGINAL TO THE PIECE AND IS ALSO ENAMELED IN BEAUTIFUL BLUE. I can hardly see any enamel loss on the case back and brooch with just one or two tiny areas when viwed under magnification. Apart from that the enamel work is excellent. The gilt watch case is fully hall marked for. 935 grade silver and the brooch is marked for 900 silver. I can see no dings to the case. All of the covers snap to well. I have gently polished the case, and it is shining wonderfully, as only SOLID SILVER can. THE WATCH MEASURES 2.5CMS (25MM) IN DIAMETER. This lovely collectible watch has a STUNNING original snow white fabulously enamelled dial It is unsigned, and is in excellent condition. It has beautiful sharp and crisp Arabic RARE BLUE painted numerals which are enclosed by a beautiful GOLD DOTTED minute track. Everything is crisp and clear with no apparent numeral wear. The crystal is glass and may be the original. As such it shows light wear. The beautiful antique filigree style watch hands are golden steel and are in excellent condition. This is a lovely condition Swiss made crown wind and pin set cylinder movement. It has minty steel screws. The movement is marked’Swiss Made’ and’15 jewels’ on the top plates. The watch runs and has been FULLY SERVICED by my watchmaker. The watch is keeping good time as tested over a 24 hour period. It winds smoothly and the setting action works as it should. The crown is in excellent condition. The chain ring is solid silver and shows light normal wear. This beautiful timepiece is accompanied by its ORIGINAL solid 900 silver hall marked matching’Ribbon’ shaped blue enameled brooch and pin. THE BROOCH HAS A SOLID 9 CARAT GOLD DOGCLIP TO ATTACH IT TO THE WATCH. The brooch is serviceable and wearable and matches the watch completely. THIS IS A FANTASTIC BEAUTIFULLY HAND MADE TIMEPIECE. Please remember that vintage watches have survived for many decades by being treated well. Vintage watches are not for wearing while doing yard work, working out, or swimming. Vintage watches cannot keep time like their quartz cousins and will need altering on average between +-2 to +-5 mins per day. They are a little more destructible than modern watches. Vintage watches also require periodic service and cleaning. Every couple of years, they would like their 20,000 mile checkup, oil change, and general service. The silver case measures 50mm in diameter. What porcelain dial has some hairlines but is in decent shape with some light hairlines and one small edge chip (cannot be seen with bezel on). The dial is stamped. The 900 silver case is stamped. 0,900 (hallmark)(hallmark) 72780. On the inner back cover. Case is in good shape. The movement is signed. SWITZERLAND Continental Watch Co. Stem wind and lever set (lever located at the left of the crown). The watch runs the full length of the mainspring BUT only in the FACE DOWN position. When the watch is turned dial side up, it will run for up to a minute then stop. I checked the balance staff and it looks ok. Maybe the top jewel or the balance pivot is dirty. Either way, it will need some cleaning. The calendar discs to the back are all functioning except for the DAY because of the missing button. Im sure any competent jeweler can fabricate one. The bottom dial is quite unusual. Instead of the typical moonphase discs that you see, this one has a rotating inner disk that shows a moon in its different phases full, crescent, etc. Also, that bottom dial has a nice scene overlooking a bridge with mother of pearl accents.
